Mike Buchanan received his B.S. degree in Chemical Oceanography from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1979 and an M.S. in Systems Management from the University of Southern California in 1990.  Mike has more than 25 years experience in analytical chemistry, methods development, and analytical laboratory management. Prior to joining the Institute of Paper Science and Technology in 1996 he worked as an analytical chemist and laboratory manager for 16 years in private laboratories.  Currently he is the manager of the Chemical Analysis Group at IPST.  He has expertise in mass spectrometry, infrared spectroscopy, chromatography, electrophoresis and other instrumental and classical analytical techniques.
