New Problem-Solving Resources Become Available on IPST's Member Channel

On Monday June 12th, product development staff, process engineers, and technical support staff from IPST member companies will be able to utilize three new Web-based problem-solving tools - all available to any member company employee through the IPST Member Channel Web site.

The new tools will provide these industry professionals with specialized resources to assist with development or optimization of processes, enhancements to product performance, and the resolution of pulp, paper, and paperboard manufacturing issues.

First, a new "Problem and Expertise Listing" tool matches paper manufacturing processes and issues with individual IPST staff having the specialized skills and expertise. Resumes, telephone numbers, and e-mail addresses provide direct access to IPST staff.

A second tool provides customers with a simple method to use IPST research facilities and expertise by establishing a proprietary development or optimization project in one of the following processing areas:

  • Pulping & Bleaching
  • Chemical Recovery
  • Stock Preparation
  • Manufacturing Processes & Product Performance
  • Recycling
  • Corrosion
  • Environmental

A new "Proprietary Testing" resource provides process engineers and manufacturing sites with access to comprehensive testing services to address processing and product performance issues. Primary areas of analysis include:

  • Chemical Analysis
  • Microscopy & Fiber Analysis
  • Paper & Paperboard Analysis
  • Pulp Analysis

The above problem-solving features represent only a few of the tools that IPST is beginning to implement to serve and respond to the changing needs of its member companies.

The IPST Member Channel is a service to the employees of its member companies. It provides these industry professionals with access to leading expertise, and some of the industry's most innovative research, current information, and relevant educational programs available. Anytime. Anywhere.

The Institute of Paper Science and Technology is an independent, fully accredited, graduate research school located on the campus of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. In a unique partnership with the paper industry, the Institute provides Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees, innovative research, informational and technical services, and access to educational development programs.
