December 16, 2004 - The 2005
TAPPI PIMA Student Summit will be held at the Radisson
River Walk Hotel in Jacksonville Florida, January 15th
to 17th. The Summit is an excellent opportunity
for undergraduate students to learn both about opportunities
after graduation as well as the current state of the
paper industry and some of its key issues and opportunities. The
purpose of the Student Summit is to provide students
interested in pulp, paper, and allied industries direct
interaction with industry leaders and to provide valuable
information on employment opportunities within the industry. Register

This year's primary emphasis will be on leadership and employment. The
morning session will focus on leadership and will be presented by Willis Potts,
TAPPI Vice President, Kathy Buckman Davis, Buckman Laboratories, and Bill Hauserman,
Application Solutions Group. The afternoon session will give an overview
of the job market in the pulp and paper industry and tips for launching one's
career. The presenters for the afternoon session will be Sonny Jackson,
Smurfit-Stone, and Brooks Andrews and Bruce Hohensee from Hercules. David
Ashcraft, North Carolina State, and Jim Thompson from Talo Analytic will finish
out the afternoon presentations with a section on transitioning into the workplace.
The host for this year's Student Summit is Smurfit-Stone's Fernandina Beach mill.
One of the highlights of the event will be a mill tour and in-depth discussion
of the mill's operations. The tour will also include a tour of the box
plant.

up to present the 2005 Student Summit. There will be a career fair to give
sponsoring companies direct access to students who may be interested in internships
and employment opportunities.
