Atlanta, Georgia -- May 25, 2005-- Each year, the IPST Alumni Executive Committee presents an award to the most outstanding students in the Paper Science and Engineering Program. The outstanding students are selected by the Research Committee from a pool of students nominated by the faculty. The students must have demonstrated excellence in terms of academic accomplishments, research quality, publications and presentations, and assistance and mentoring of other students.
This year the outstanding Ph.D. student of the year award goes to Dr. Greg Fike. Dr. Fike will receive $1000 and recognition in the lobby of the IPST building. Dr. Chris Luettgen who presented the award to Dr. Fike on behalf of the alumni said, "I was at the Institute when it moved from Appleton to Atlanta and I know that earning your Ph.D. when IPST was integrating into Georgia Tech must have taken a great deal of fortitude. My congratulations go to Greg and all of the other M.S. and Ph.D. graduates who "got out" during this tumultuous time in our history".
Dr. Fike is now a researcher at Georgia Pacific's Neenah Wisconsin facility. Congratulations Greg!
