Dr. David
I. Orloff is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and received
his Ph.D. in Applied Mechanics from Drexel University in 1974. Prior
to joining the Institute in 1988, Dr. Orloff was section head of web
forming and thermal bonding research, from 1982 to 1988, at the Kendall
Company, and from 1974 through 1982 was an Associate Professor of Mechanical
Engineering at the University of South Carolina.

Research Summary
Dr. Orloff's research interests
include heat and mass transfer, combustion, pressing and drying technologies.
Dr. Orloff is the author of numerous papers on impulse drying of paper,
and holds 8 U.S. patents.
